One of our favorite types of photography is aerial 360 panoramic. This fascinating new technique of capturing the entire surroundings of the aircraft allows for a truly interactive experience with the photography.
Virtual Tours allow you to take that interactive experience to the next level by linking up a series of 360 degree panoramic photos to simulate the feeling of looking all around an environment from several different viewpoints. In some cases a virtual tour may even be better than actually being on site, because additional layers of data can be presented to viewers. Information callouts, multimedia clips, sound effects, animations and more can greatly enhance the level of engagement to create fully immersive experiences. These features can be embedded directly into the context of the 360 photo. Photos collected in close proximity to each other can be linked from inside the photo itself to produce an effect that is much like Google Street View. Elevated Element can also make it so your virtual tour can easily be accessed, viewed and shared from anywhere on a variety of devices from a standard computer, to tablet, mobile phone or VR headset, by creating a custom web tool to stand alone or act as a sub-page on an existing website.
Virtual Tours can run a wide range of uses. On one one hand they can be very simple user interfaces that link up a small series of 360 photos that shows how a site actually looks. On the other hand they can become as complex as the user can dream up by adding layers of additional data and visualizations, and allowing the user to move more freely throughout the environment. Data overlays can also be used to illustrate changes over time and geographic locations. Viewers can truly be transported virtually to another place or point in time. With this in mind, some real world situations that virtual tours would be a fantastic tool for include travel/tourism, real estate, hospitality, schools/universities and museums. We mainly make them for land development and historic preservation, but welcome new ideas that we may apply this exciting technology for.
Beyond making your company or project look extraordinarily innovative, there are other less obvious benefits of using a virtual tour. They increase your Google business search profile ranking. Market research reveals that 44% of business searches utilize mapping features, and result in an on-site visit 41% of the time. Web pages or listing with virtual tours are two times more likely to motivate a consumer into action. The tour will increase the amount of time that visitor spends engaged with your site or posting, and imparts a wealth of information. This also translates into increased interest and overall buy-in. With a virtual tour your hours of operation are twenty-four-seven. In fact, such an interactive visual experience that a virtual tour offers may get other media sites to share your link, resulting in even more exposure.
